i visited cambodia two years ago. when i was there, cambodians kept asking me to buy their books - memoirs of the survivors of the pol pot regime. being the cheapskate i am, i declined and told myself i will read it up in the library. i never did, until yesterday, i bought “children of cambodia’s killing fields” compiled by dith pran. i finished the book and googled about notable cambodians, and chanced upon this movie - almost a biography of dith pran himself. i have more to say.. but everyone should watch it for themselves. the fact that nations were aware when this horrific period took place and did nothing for years, made me realise how little human rights mean in the world of politics..Like Francois Ponchaud aptly put it: human rights are always subservient to politics.
