Movie: My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997)

not my favourite movie. but this scene is one of my favourites from all the movies i’ve watched. the music, and that abrupt ray of sunlight that appears after they emerge from under the bridge, seem to convey that sense of nostalgia, as though something beautiful has been missed.

just watched “Scusa ma ti chiamo amore (Sorry, If I Love You)”. i guess i’m going to put aside my prejudice against older people.
P.S. Not a great storyline, watch it for Raoul Bavo!

i developed a bit of a crush on aaron eckhart and his cleft chin after watching “conversations with other women”. by the way, if you like “before sunrise”, this will work for you, it has great dialogue.

“Are we just pretending to be unhappy to add drama to our lives so that we seem somehow more substantial? I mean if you think about it, our lives are embarrassingly easy. I mean, we’ve got plenty of money. We’ve got friends. There are people out there who have real problems, you know? Real reasons to be unhappy. I mean, I could be a coal miner dying of black lung or something. You could be a Cincinnati crack-whore on food stamps. Doesn’t it feel like we’re faking it? Our unhappiness?” - Richard Dunn, Paper Man

“Truth is nothing. What you believe to be true is everything.” - Will Donner
<3 this movie, albeit a little long. but the depiction of such simplicity of love itself is enviable. usually feelings are a little more nuanced, but this movie shows it as it is; only situations are complicated, emotions remain pure, like how it always used to be in our childhood. made me think about childhood sweethearts, love was such a simple concept to grasp, unskewed by the perception of beauty or riches. brings me back to a time when feelings were just it. is that why everything related to our “childhood sweetheart” will always be one of the best and cherished memories?
